Achieving Disease Remission and Investing in Your Health!

Updated: Oct 16, 2023

It is my pleasure to delve into the importance of achieving disease remission as quickly as possible, especially in rheumatologic disorders. In this blog, I will share my own journey and decision to open a Direct Care practice, focusing on providing the best care for my patients. Moreover, I'll discuss disease remission, its significance, and why you should aim to achieve it promptly.

The Journey to Direct Care Practice:

I have been fortunate to be a part of various world-class institutions throughout my career, from Paris (Saint Antoine) to New York City (Columbia University) and Denver (National Jewish Health). I was deeply involved in research projects and have learned a lot from my time in these world class institutions. After my own cancer history, I realize that my passion was in offering the best possible clinical care to my patients so that they can live the life they were always meant to live. To do this, I had to get out of the insurance system and decided to open my own Direct Care practice as I believe it allows me to prioritize my patients' needs better. Direct Care practices enable doctors to focus on individualized care without the constraints of insurance policies, ensuring patients receive the utmost attention and dedication.

The Importance of Disease Remission:

Disease remission refers to the absence of pain, swelling, inflammation, and morning stiffness in rheumatologic conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and gout. Achieving disease remission is crucial for multiple reasons:

  • Improved Quality of Life: Remission eliminates pain and fatigue, allowing patients to live life to the fullest.

  • Preventing Organ Inflammation: Inflammatory conditions affect various organs, including the heart, lungs, skin, and eyes. Treating the inflammation promptly reduces the risk of cardiovascular and other systemic disorders.

  • Reducing Cancer Risk: Chronic inflammation has been associated with an increased risk of cancer. Achieving remission helps lower this risk and promotes overall health.

  • Window of Opportunity: Early detection and treatment offer a higher chance of reaching full remission with minimal or no long-term medications needed.

Investing in Your Health:

To achieve disease remission, it is essential to invest in your health. As I often tell my patients, please Do not settle for just “feeling better”; strive for remission and work with a dedicated rheumatologist to attain the best possible outcome.

Conclusion:

Let us embrace hope and the power of science to achieve disease remission and lead fulfilling lives. Invest in your health, seek the right care, and remember that you have the right to live a life free from pain and inflammation. Whether you are in Colorado or beyond, consider exploring Direct Care practices to receive personalized attention and support on your journey to wellness.
